SUMMARY:IEC CIM User Group Europe 2022
DESCRIPTION:DSO of the Future: Integrating the Total Energy Solution\n \nThe UCA International Users Group invites members of the energy industry to attend the CIM Users Group – European 2022 Fall Meeting\, “DSO of the Future: Integrating the Total Energy Solution” hosted by Alliander on 3-5 October\, 2022 in Arnhem\, Netherlands.  This meeting will emphasize the needs and features of the future DSO and explore how data integration techniques and best practices using CIM can be used to achieve the total energy solution for the 21st Century.  Whether you are a CIM novice or expert\, this meeting will provide a forum to learn more about CIM and network with indusry colleagues. \n \n  \nMichael Covarrubias\, VP of Strategy and Solutions\, will be there from Xtensible. Be sure to find him to ask questions about the long history Xtensible has with the CIM and how we are actively supporting utilities in the implementation and extension of CIM. \nWhat Is CIM?\nThe CIM is an international standard now globally accepted for modeling the information exchanges required in electric utilities. The CIM is independent of any individual application\, middleware\, or message protocols used for data exchange. The interoperability enabled by the CIM standards is a key factor for achieving the Smart Grid vision. \nThe CIM Users Group (CIMug) was formed to promote progress of the CIM and to share project experiences. The users group holds two meetings each year (one in Europe and one in the U.S.). Recognized experts share their insights and resolve key technical issues. Each meeting also includes pre-conference tutorials\, vendor exhibits\, and social networking opportunities. \nWho Should Attend?\nUtilities\, energy companies\, RTO/ISOs and others involved in developing standards-based enterprise information architectures and integration frameworks to meet their business challenges will find this conference invaluable. Project managers\, system architects\, business and IT managers\, and control center personnel will all benefit from this meeting. With the focus on Smart Grid interoperability and distribution applications\, vendors with CIM-based products they plan to make available to this community will want to reserve a Vendor Table to demonstrate their products and discuss service offerings. \nThe meeting is open to all current or potential CIM users – you do not have to be a CIM User Group member to attend. Attendees gain first-hand access to CIM experts and come away with new insights on how to realize the power of CIM-based integration. \nHosted by:

SUMMARY:IEC CIM Training – Basics & Uses
DESCRIPTION:This course provides an opportunity for individuals to receive master-class style training from individuals who have experience implementing the IEC Common Information Model (CIM) standard worldwide. This unique set of sessions provides training and real-world examples of how utilities use IEC CIM.\nThe IEC Common Information Model (CIM)\, a standard developed by the electric power industry\, has been officially adopted by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It aims to allow data providers and consumers to exchange and store information in a standard manner. IEC CIM was originally focused on the makeup of the electrical network. Over the years\, it has expanded to include additional functions such as assets\, asset management\, work\, meters\, meter readings\, customers and much more. It is a starting point from which a utility can build an information architecture to help define a business vocabulary\, otherwise known as “semantics\,” for its day-to-day operations.\nConsider the following: \n\nDoes your organization desire an information model that is technology and vendor agnostic that drives data-in-motion (integration) and data-in-rest (structured storage and analytics)?\nIs there a desire to foster a data-driven culture\, where data is considered an asset?\nDoes your organization need a consistent\, well-defined data fabric that facilitates the reduction of technical debt across the organization?\n\nNewly added to this training in comparison to the previous 2020 training are break-out sessions.  These sessions will be interactive with the objective of attendees leaving with content that they can take back to their respective companies to act upon. \n\nAsk the Experts\nData Linage and Mapping Challenge\nNetwork Model Requirements\nBuilding the Business Use Case\nAdvance Analytics Approach and Concepts\nNetwork Model Management Requirements\n\nCost: $695 \nAgenda\nAll times are EST (Eastern Standard Time) \nDecember 15\, 2021 \n\nWelcome\n12:00 PM – 12:10 PM\nKeynote: Client IEC CIM Case Study\n12:10 PM – 12:35 PM\nAn Introduction to the CIM Standards and Architecture: The CIM as a ‘Means to an end’\n12:35 PM – 12:55 PM\nUML & Enterprise Architecture Basics\n12:55 PM – 1:15 PM\nModel Walk Through: IEC CIM Service 61968\n1:15 PM – 1:35 PM\nModel Walk Through: IEC CIM Series 61970 – Network Model Management (NMM)\n1:35 PM – 2:00 PM\nBreak\n2:00 PM – 2:20 PM\nSemantic Modeling Methodology\n2:20 PM – 2:40 PM\nGenerating a context for Meter Control (real world example)\n2:40 PM – 3:00 PM\nGenerating a context for Asset (real world example)\n3:00 PM – 3:20 PM\nThe Good\, The Bad and the Ugly (of the CIM) – Part 1\n3:20 PM – 3:40 PM\nDay 1 Breakout Sessions\n3:40 PM – 4:25 PM \n\nData Linage and Mapping Challenge\nAsk the Experts\n\n\n\nDecember 16\, 2021 \n\nOpening Session\n12:00 PM – 12:10 PM\nThe Good\, The Bad and the Ugly (of the CIM) – Part 2\n12:10 PM – 12:30 PM\nMaking the Business Case for CIM in your Organization\n12:30 PM – 12:50 PM\nThe Role of Business and Enterprise Architecture\n12:50 PM – 1:10 PM\nEnterprise Information Management (EIM) Relationship with the CIM\n1:10 PM – 1:30 PM\nBreak\n1:30 PM – 1:50 PM\nBuilding an Enterprise Data Lake\n1:50 PM – 2:10 PM\nAnalytics Use Case Demonstration: Asset Analytics and Asset Registry\n2:10 PM – 2:30 PM\nCentralized Network Model Management: Overview and Demonstration\n2:30 PM – 2:55 PM\nTaking the Next Steps: Building and Implementation Roadmap\n2:55 PM  – 3:15 PM\nDay 2 Breakout Sessions\n3:20 PM – 3:50 PM \n\nAsk the Experts\nBuilding the Business Use Case\nAdvance Analytics Approach and Concepts\nFramework for Network Model Management Requirements\n\n\nFinal Words and Closing\n4:00 PM – 4:20 PM\n\n

It is a starting point from which a utility can build an information architecture to help define a business vocabulary\, otherwise known as “semantics\,” for its day-to-day operations.\nConsider the following: \n\nDoes your organization desire an information model that is technology and vendor agnostic that drives data-in-motion (integration) and data-in-rest (structured storage and analytics)?\nIs there a desire to foster a data-driven culture\, where data is considered an asset?\nDoes your organization need a consistent\, well-defined data fabric that facilitates the reduction of technical debt across the organization?\n\nCost: $395 \nAgenda\nAll times are EST (Eastern Standard Time) \nJuly 22\, 2020 \n\nWelcome\n12:00 PM-12:15 PM\nAn Introduction to the CIM Standards and Architecture: The CIM as a “Means to an End”\n12:15 PM-12:40 PM\nUML & Enterprise Architecture Basics\n12:45 PM-1:10 PM\nModel Walk Through: IEC CIM Series 61968\n1:15 PM-1:40 PM\nModel Walk Through: IEC CIM Series 61970 – Network Model Management (NMM)\n1:45 PM-2:10 PM\nBREAK\n2:10 PM-2:30 PM\nSemantic Modeling Methodology\n2:30 PM-2:55 PM\nGenerating a Context for Meter Control (With Real World Example)\n3:00 PM-3:25 PM\nGenerating a Context for Asset (With Real World Example)\n3:30 PM-3:55 PM\nThe Good\, the Bad and the Ugly (of the CIM) – Part 1\n4:00 PM-4:30 PM\n\nJuly 23\, 2020 \n\nOpening Session – Previous Day Recap and Review of Upcoming Agenda\n12:00 PM-12:10 PM\nThe Good\, the Bad and the Ugly (of the CIM) – Part 2\n12:15 PM-12:40 PM\nMaking the Business Case for CIM in Your Organization\n12:40 PM-1:00 PM\nThe Role of Business and Enterprise Architecture\n1:00 PM-1:20 PM\nEnterprise Information Management’s (EIM) Relationship with the CIM\n1:20 PM-1:40 PM\nBREAK\n1:40 PM-2:00 PM\nBuilding an Enterprise Data Lake\n2:00 PM-2:30 PM\nAnalytics Use Case Demonstration: Asset Analytics and Asset Registry\n2:30 PM-3:00 PM\nIntegration Use Case Demonstration: Single Source of the Network Connectivity Model\n3:00 PM-3:30 PM\nCentralized Network Model Management: Overview and Demonstration\n3:30 PM-4:00 PM\nTaking the New Steps: Building an Implementation Roadmap\n4:00 PM-4:20 PM\nFinal Words and Closing\n4:20 PM-4:30 PM\n\nREGISTER NOW
