SUMMARY:EPRI Grid Analytics and Power Quality Conference and Exhibition 2018
DESCRIPTION:Xtensible and Southern California Edison recently teamed up to meet requirements of California Rule 21 and produce extensive analytics unconstrained by individual system implementations and business silos. Recognizing that separate projects add in different functional components at varying times\, the foundation of this system includes a comprehensive data model that is based on industry standards such as the IEC Common Information Model (CIM) and Geographic Markup Language (GML). This model serves as a common vocabulary for all functional component interfaces for logical and physical models used by both ‘data-in-motion’ (integration) and ‘data-at-rest’ (databases).\nOur discussion will focus on how distributed energy resources (DER) are interconnected within the SCE network\, in support of varying types of DER programs with third parties and customers. We will also describe how DER management is performed with electrical network connectivity awareness for both the operational and asset perspectives.

SUMMARY:V CIER ENERGY CONGRESS 2017
DESCRIPTION:The V CIER Energy Conference will be held on November 28 to December 1\, 2017 and will take place at the beautiful city of Medellin at Plaza Mayor Convention Center organizing by Comité Colombiano de la CIER – COCIER. The main topic will be “Sustainable Energy for all in the Smart Society. The event will offer spaces for business relationship and opportunities for the utilities as well as to the energy industry suppliers goods and services attender’s.\nThe V CIER ENERGY CONGRESS aims to analyze and discuss the challenges that the sustainable energy development faces to provide a reliable\, safe\, and environmentally friendly supply\, with the appropriate means to ensure energy access to all actors of the smart society environment. \nThe topics that will be covered by Xtensible:\nJump Start Utility Enterprise Analytics: Creating a Data Lake not a Data Swamp\nAnalytics for a utility can drive time-to-market for services and create valuable insights for financial services growth and optimization of business functions and delivery. It is projected that the energy and utility analytics market will grow from $1.8 billion USD in 2016 to nearly $3.5 billion USD by 2020. Considering the exponential growth of data that utilities are faced with\, due to the onset of Smart Grid technologies and IoT\, a utility needs to ask themselves: \n\nWhat is our data and analytics strategy?\nWhat should we focus on to deliver quick value?\nHow do we know our data and manage it?\nHow do we integrate our data?\nHow do we architect our data?\n\nUtility CIM Base Integration – Integrating the Utility of the Future\nThe utility standard CIM (Common Information Model) is maintained by IEC and coverers three major components of the utility industry: \n\nTransmission (IEC 61970)\nDistribution (IEC 61968)\nMarket Communications (IEC 62325)\n\nUnderstand the abstract UML model. This represents the major objects within the utility industry and is widely used. It is recommended by a number of organizations such as NIST for their Priority Action Plans (PAPs). CIM standards aim to simplify the integration of components and expand options for supply of components by standardizing information exchanges. \n\nReduce complexity with clear consistent semantic modeling across the enterprise\nData sources: achieve a clear picture of data mastership in the enterprise\nData consumers: make ‘data of record’ available on demand to qualified users

SUMMARY:Utility Analytics: Jump Start Your Enterprise Analytics
DESCRIPTION:Presented by:\nTom Eyford\, Global Industry Specialist; Oracle Utility Global Business Unit\nMichael Covarrubias\, Director of Market Strategy and Solutions; Xtensible Solutions\nUtility analytic solutions over the years have addressed a wide variety of demands\, majority of the time solving very specific problems for a given domain. Ask yourself the questions: \n\nHow do we bring all the solutions under a single enterprise approach for our data?\nHow do we interpret our data?\nWhat is our core data platform?\nHow do we integrate our enterprise data with outside service providers?\n\nSmart grid and connected infrastructure challenges have spurred a worldwide demand for understanding of how advanced analytics and “Big Data” technologies can help solve utility business problems and be managed from an enterprise perspective.\nIt is with this market demand in view\, with a focus of answering the question\, Xtensible and Oracle partnered together to develop an advanced analytics and Big Data platform solution that brings data together from different solutions to create an enterprise perspective\, the Oracle Utility Data Model (OUDM). This solution was developed using Xtensible Solutions’ MD3i Frameworks and has been proven on Oracle technology\, providing a platform today for solving problems of the future.
